Below, you will find answers to common questions categorized by the services we offer.
1. Hair Extensions & Bundles
What type of hair do you offer?
Our Brazilian Virgin Hair comes in natural colors and is collected from single donors. It has not been chemically altered or processed, ensuring the highest quality and longevity.
How many bundles do I need for a full head?
For lengths under 16 inches, you will need at least 2-3 bundles. For lengths over 24 inches, we recommend using 4 bundles or more. For lengths over 28 inches, we recommend 5 bundles or more to achieve a full, voluminous look.
Can The Swich Up hair be colored or dyed?
Yes. All our hair can be colored and lightened. However, we highly advise you to use our professional coloring services. Hair extensions can easily be over-processed and damaged if they aren’t professionally done.
What colors do the extensions come in?
All of our extensions naturally vary between natural black and natural brown.
How can I make my extensions last for a long time?
We suggest that you shampoo your extensions every two weeks using a mild shampoo. In between those two weeks, you should only condition your hair. Conditioning your extensions will ensure that your hair stays luscious and beautiful. By following these simple steps, your extensions can last up to a full year or more.
2. Medical Wigs & Hair Loss Solutions
What is a cranial prosthesis?
A cranial prosthesis is the medical term for a custom wig or hairpiece prescribed by a physician for a client experiencing hair loss due to a medical condition (such as alopecia, chemotherapy, trichotillomania, etc.).
Do you accept insurance for medical wigs?
While we do not bill insurance directly, many insurance plans cover the cost of a cranial prosthesis if you have a Letter of Medical Necessity from your doctor. We provide you with the proper invoice and documentation needed so you can submit the claim to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.
Can I use my FSA or HSA to pay for a medical wig?
Yes! A cranial prosthesis is considered a qualifying medical expense under most Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) plans. You can use your FSA/HSA card to pay for your service.
How do I start the process for a medical wig?
The first step is to book a Hair Loss Consultation. During this consultation, we will discuss your specific needs, evaluate your hair loss, and determine the best customized solution for you.
3. Education & "The Teacher's Chair"
Who is The Teacher's Chair for?
The Teacher's Chair is designed for licensed cosmetologists, salon owners, beauty school students, and beauty entrepreneurs who want to elevate their skills. We offer training in extension techniques, medical wig business development, and overall professional growth.
Do you offer online or in-person classes?
We offer a variety of educational formats, including in-person hands-on workshops, private training sessions, and digital downloads (like our Medical Wig Business Starter Kit) that you can access immediately online.
How do I enroll in a class or get mentorship?
You can request information for our specific programs (Extension Education, Medical Wig Business Training, or general mentorship) by filling out the inquiry forms located on "The Teacher's Chair" page. We will review your application and get back to you with the next steps.
4. Orders, Shipping & Policies
How long does shipping and handling take?
Once your order is placed and confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email. All orders take 3-5 business days to process BEFORE they are shipped out. Standard shipping can take an additional 3-5 business days, depending on your location. Please note that ALL WIG UNITS take 10 business days to ship after processing.
Can I return or exchange my wigs or hair bundles?
No. Due to the nature of the items we sell and strict hygiene standards, we DO NOT offer exchanges or refunds on any The Swich Up wigs or hair bundles. Please be absolutely sure to choose the correct lengths and textures before checking out with your order.
What is your appointment cancellation policy?
We require at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment will incur a fee of 50% of the scheduled service. No-shows will be charged 100% of the service fee. Please review our full Policies page for details regarding deposits and late arrivals.
